Hello planner friends! We are going to go over some of my favorite must-have planner supplies when it comes to my functional, minimalistic planning style. I will also link where you can find everything down below at the bottom of this post if you’re interested in getting some of these items for yourself! So, if you are also into a more minimalistic vibe in your planner or are just looking for some planner inspiration, just keep reading!
So as you may already know, my current everyday carry is a Moterm Pocket Ring planner. I fill her up with all sorts of must-have minimalistic, functional inserts that I get from printable pdf shops like Peanuts Planner Co. Perfectionism Prints, 8Lotus, JIdesignsstudio On Etsy, Thinkthankay on Etsy & more! There are so many great places out there to get your inserts from. I always look for inserts that have simple layouts, basic fonts & no color or decor. But, of course, get whatever you fancy!
When I’m planning, there are not many items I need, but I do have a few items that are absolute musts for me. A big one being highlighters! I love to use highlighters, but not the fluorescent old school ones. If you are part of the planner community then I am sure you have heard of what I am about to say…. MILDLINERS & TOMBOW BRUSH PENS. I. Love. Them. I really enjoy these for two reasons. First, they are more muted colors and they carry gray & other neutral colors like tans, blushes etc. which are my favorite colors to highlight things in & keep my planner minimal looking for my my planning aesthetic. Second, the experience with using these is great and I especially like using the Tombows because I love the brush tip. If you have not tried them, do so. You will love them too!
My next must have are sticky notes. I really enjoy using the Post-It white sticky notes because you can see my highlighter colors on them & do sticky note printables on them to make them even more functional! Plus, we can all use sticky notes, am I right?!
Another must-have which is optional as some may not use these due to it being an extra step, but I really enjoy using transparent date dot stickers. These are little (neutral in my planner) color dots you put over top of dates on your monthly calendar (or wherever you please) and they draw attention to that date but still look very minimal and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I love them and buy them in bulk from Amazon.
My last must-have are of course great pens! I personally love using the Signo Uni-ball Ultra Micro 207 Retractable pens because they have a very fine tip which is perfect for me writing in small places in my pocket planner and they are very smooth and provide a great writing experience! I have been using these for years & also buy these in bulk!
You see, an aesthetically pleasing, minimalistic & functional planner doesn’t mean you have to have every planner supply out there. You can get as basic as having your planner filled with inserts and a pen only. I personally love using the highlighters & sticky dots to add a little something to catch my eye on important dates, but your planner doesn’t require much in order to help keep you organized! Plus, in my opinion, when you are keeping the decor and inserts minimal, you tend to focus more what is actually written causing you to be more productive, which is always a win!
I hope you enjoyed this & if you haven’t already, you can watch my in depth favorite planning supplies video below!
