Looking for a fun DIY craft to do with the kiddos or at a sleepover?! Maybe you want to DIY something for an event or backyard soirée?! Maybe even something to gift someone? These adorable mason jars with fairy lights inside will do just the trick!
I crafted these with my daughter & niece a few months ago when I hosted a sleepover for them. The theme was camping in the living room! I had a tent set up and all the works!
I always like to do some sort of craft at sleepovers (my daughter is 5 so they love crafting with me). So I came up with these because I thought it fit a fun camping theme for nightlights! Plus they love mermaids & unicorns hence the silhouette stickers we used!
They are super easy to make & you can find all these supplies at your local craft store, Amazon or even already lying around your home. I have below a list of supplies you will need for this fun project.
Once you have all your supplies, you are ready to get these put together! You will want to start by placing your silhouette stickers INSIDE the Masson jar. I hav found this works better so that they don’t get ruined and usually the outside of mason jars have raised designs, making it hard to stick these to the outside. If you do not have or want to use the silhouette stickers, you can always use some black paint (or whatever colors you fancy) & create your own design onto the mason jar. You can even paint on someone’s name or a quote or favorite word. ANYTHING! It would probably be best to steal it though with a clear sealant after painting on them so they do not chip.
After you have designed your jar, it is time to decorate the lid! I like to use silk flowers on the top. I actually glue my two lid pieces together first so it is like one lid. Then I glue my silk flowers or whatever decor you want. If you are doing holiday theme you can always put fun little decorations on the top like pumpkins or presents. Once your lid is decorated and the glue has cooled. It is on to the next step!
Fairy Lights!! Our favorite part, right?! Time to twirl your fairly lights inside. The ones I am using I got from Amazon, which I will link below for you. If you do not want to use fairy lights, you can always use a battery operated LED candle inside. After you get your lights in, put the lid on & enjoy! Side note: if this is being used for a night light for kids & you want them to easily be able to turn the lights on and off, I suggest leaving the battery pack somehow hang out of the back of the jar, that’s what I do for my daughter. If these are for outdoors you can always get some SOLAR POWERED lights to go inside!
You can get super creative with these depending on how you are using them! You can even coat the entire inside on the jar in glitter before you add lights! If you make these, feel free to tag me on Instagram @ _planwithbee_ so I can check out your fun creations!
